LACEY, Wash. – Kara Peterson announced today she is resigning as head Saint Martin's University women's volleyball coach.

"I want to thank Coach Peterson for her hard work and contribution to our women's volleyball program," said Athletic Director Bob Grisham. "We wish her well for the future."

Peterson finished the 2015 season 2-24 overall and 1-19 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. In her three seasons she has compiled a 13-73 overall record. Under Peterson's direction, Cymbree Decosta and Kristyn Ross were named honorable mention All-GNAC and eight players were named GNAC All-Academic.

Peterson was hired February 2013 after building the Black Hills High School program in Tumwater from the ground up over the past 15 years starting the program in 1997. She went to 12 state tournaments appearances, including 10 top-eight finishers.

A search committee is being formed and a nation-wide search will begin immediately. "It is important we move quickly with the search process to find the best coach for our program," said Grisham.
