NEW ORLEANS – On the verge of the announcement of selections for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, a total of 66 GNAC student-athletes have been named All-West Region by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The 32 men and 34 women were selected for having the top-five marks in each event in the region. In addition, members of relay teams with the top-three times in the region earned selection. Of the GNAC honorees, 17 had the top mark in the region in their respective events (six men, 11 women).

Alaska Anchorage senior Caroline Kurgat led the way for all GNAC athletes with selection as All-West Region in four events: 800 meters, 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. Simon Fraser senior Julia Howley earned All-West Region honors in the 1,500 meters, the 5,000 meters and the steeplechase.

Montana State Billings senior Sam Zook led GNAC men with three All-West Region awards in the 100 meters, 200 meters and the 4x100-meter relay.

Central Washington and Concordia led all GNAC programs with 10 total selections apiece. The Wildcats led all women’s teams with seven selections while Concordia’s men also had seven selections.
