PORTLAND, Ore. - A total of  132 student-athletes – 72 women and 60 men - have been named to the 2014 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track & Field All-Academic team.

Two members of the women’s academic team have 4.00 GPAs – Kelly Shreve of Central Washington and Jinise Osborne of Montana State Billings.  

Among U.S. athletes, Joe Berger, a graduate student at Saint Martin’s University, leads the men’s team with a 3.99 GPA (out of a possible 4.00).  Lorenzo Smith of Simon Fraser has a 4.22 GPA in the Canadian system which awards 4.33 points for a A+.

Mary Owen of Montana State Billings was selected to the team for the fourth time, three times for outdoor and once for indoor only.  A total of 24 other athletes – 10 men and 14 women – were selected to the team for the third year in a row.

Western Washington placed the most athletes on the academic team with 26  including 12 men and 14 women.  Northwest Nazarene put 21 athletes on the team, nine men and 12 women. 

Central Washington had 17 honorees (6 men, 11 women), Western Oregon had 16 (10 men, 6 women) and Alaska Anchorage earned 16 spots (8 men, 8 women).
