MONMOUTH, Ore. - Western Washington had a 1-2-3-4 sweep in the 400 meters and the same quartet also won the 4x400 meter relay as the Vikings successfully defended their men's title at the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at McArthur Stadium.

Western Washington won the men's title for the third time in four years, outpointing runner-up Central Washington 183 1/2 to 141. Host Western Oregon finished third with 137 points, eight ahead of Alaska Anchorage.

WWU's Jonathon Poolman won the 400 in a time of 47.82, while his teammates Devon Smith (48.20), Nathaniel Schmidt (49.13) and Jason Nokes (49.42) finished second, third and fourth.  The foursome later won the relay in a time of 3:15.17.

Rimar Christie of Northwest Nazarene was selected the Most Outstanding Performer winning the 100 meters (10.64) and 200 meters (21.47) and leading the Crusaders to a win in the 4x100 relay (41.72).

Christie, who set a meet record in the 200 in Friday's prelims, was the lone male athlete to win two individual events in the meet.  His prelim time 21.32 bettered the old meet record of 21.36 set by Anthony Wright of Central Washington in 2010.

In addition to Christie's prelim record, two more meet records were broken Saturday as Logan Myers of Western Washington won the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.65, breaking a 10-year record set by Damien Davis of Western Oregon in 2003. 

The only other record to fall Saturday came in the javelin where Franz Burghagen of Alaska Anchorage had a throw of 228-0.  UAA's Cody Parker, who finished second (217-4), set the record of 215-0 last season.

Rimar's title in the 100 was his second in that event.  He also won the sprint race last season in a time of 10.79.  The only other repeat winner was Sam Washington who won his third shot put title on Friday.
