NEW ORLEANS – A total of 23 GNAC student-athletes and eight institutions have been honored for academic achievement during the 2020 track and field season by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Six male athletes and 17 female student-athletes from seven different programs were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes. To qualify in the abbreviated 2020 season, student-athletes needed to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better, have completed at least 24 semester hours or 36 quarter hours through the end of the semester at the nominating institution and achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

A total of 208 men from 73 Division II institutions were honored as All-Academic Athletes while 321 women from 93 institutions earned the award. Seattle Pacific led all GNAC institutions with six selections.

The GNAC honorees include seven of the eight student-athletes named in June as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. The list includes Felix Kemboi, Ruth Cvancara and Marie Ries of Alaska Anchorage; Kate Lilly and Dania Holmberg of Seattle Pacific, Grace Knapp of Western Oregon and Aliyah Dawkins of Western Washington.

The eight GNAC programs recognized as All-Academic Teams qualified by attaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better with both their indoor and outdoor rosters. A total of 114 men’s programs and 149 women’s programs in Division II were recognized by the program.

Five GNAC institutions saw both their men’s and women’s programs recognized as All-Academic Teams: Central Washington, Northwest Nazarene, Saint Martin’s, Seattle Pacific and Western Washington.
