PORTLAND, Ore. — For the third time this indoor track and field season, Concordia University's McKenzie Warren has been named the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division Women's Athlete of the Week.

Warren became the NCAA Division II record holder in the shot put with her throw of 57 feet, 9.75 inches, at the Husky Classic this past Saturday. Warren's first place throw was five feet better than her closest competitor. The senior's mark shattered the 14-year old NCAA Division II record, previously held by Ashland University's Adriane Blewitt.

Her mark of stands up to some of the top throwers in the country, too. Going into today (Feb. 14), she is ranked fourth collegiately on the year, behind Ole Miss' Raven Saunders, Arizona State's Maggie Ewen and Arkansas State's Erin Farmer. Warren is the only non-Division I athlete in the top-10 collegiate shot put marks this season. Heading into this weekend, the Sandy, Oregon, native is 15th in the world according to the indoor top marks list maintained by the IAAF.

Warren and her teammates will return to the track this weekend at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho, as both the Cavalier men and women's indoor track and field teams will participate in the GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
