PORTLAND, Ore. – A total of 11 GNAC track and field programs and over 40 student-athletes have been singled out for academic excellence by the U.S. Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Seven of the league’s nine women’s track and field programs were named as 2015 USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic Teams: Alaska Anchorage, Central Washington, Montana State Billings, Northwest Nazarene, Seattle Pacific, Western Oregon and Western Washington.
Four men’s programs also earned the coaches association honor: Alaska Anchorage, Central Washington, Northwest Nazarene and Seattle Pacific. The USTFCCA program recognizes programs that compiled a cumulative 3.00 grade point average or better.
A total of 33 GNAC women’s student-athletes were recognized as members of the USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic Track and Field Team, also representing seven of the league’s female track and field programs. Seattle Pacific led the way with eight selections. Alaska Anchorage finished with seven selections.
Thirteen GNAC men’s student-athletes were selected to the all-academic. Alaska Anchorage led the list with a total of eight selections.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field teams, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or better and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor season.
