Quartet Of GNAC Players Earn D2CCA Softball Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – Four of the top performers in GNAC softball have added another award to their resume with their selection to the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-West Region Softball Team.

Central Washington senior catch Austin Wilkerson and Wildcats’ junior first baseman Kailyn Campbell both earned first team selection to the team, nominated by and voted upon by the region’s sports information directors. Central Washington sophomore outfielder Celine Fowler and Montana State Billings sophomore outfielder Heather Tracy were second team selections.

Campbell was also selected last week to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s Division II West Region Team, selected by the region’s coaches. The second leading hitter in the GNAC, Campbell enters the NCAA Division II West Super Regional batting .442 with 91 hits, 56 runs, 46 RBI, 16 doubles and eight home runs. She ranks 24th in Division II in batting average. Campbell was the Wildcats’ top hitter during last weekend’s West Regional Tournament, batting .500 in the team’s five games.

Wilkerson also made both regional squads, being elected to the NFCA West Region Second Team. The catcher leads the GNAC with 53 RBI and is third with 117 total bases whle hitting .397 with 71 hits, 30 runs, 16 doubles and 10 home runs. Wilkerson ranks 20th in Division II in RBI and is also sixth nationally with her six sacrifice flies. During the West Regional, Wikerson batted .500 with seven hits, four runs, a double and a home run.

Fowler enters the super regional sixth in the GNAC with a .413 batting average to go along with 81 hits, 54 runs, and 20 RBI. The Wildcats’ starting center fielder is third in the GNAC in runs scored and is tied for third with 16 stolen bases.

Tracy currently ranks fourth in the GNAC after leading the Yellowjackets with a .429 batting average. She was also sixth in the league with a .461 on-base percentage and sixth with a .662 slugging percentage, which also ranks ninth best in Montana State Billings history. Tracy also finished tied with Fowler with 16 stolen bases and had 26 for her career, tying her for fifth in Yellowjackets’ history.

Wilkerson and Campbell will now move on for consideration for the D2CCA Softball All-America Team, which will be announced later this month.
