PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia junior outfielder Meghan Luebbert continues to add awards to her resume. This time, Luebbert is being honored for her efforts in the classroom.

Luebbert was the only GNAC softball player elected to the CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District 8 Softball Team. The team, which recognizes excellence on the diamond and in the classroom, was announced May 5.

The GNAC Player of the Year in Concordia’s first year as a Division II, has a 3.86 cumulative grade point average as a nursing major. It is Lubbert’s second time making the Academic All-District Team. She was selected last year to the College Division version of the team (recognizing NAIA schools, Canadian schools and junior colleges) and was also selected as a Second Team College Division Academic All-American.

Luebbert, the 2016 GNAC Player of the Year, led the GNAC with a .447 batting average, 84 hits, 60 runs and 17 home runs and tied for the conference lead with 50 RBI. She led the Cavaliers to a tie for second place in the GNAC regular season standings and the No. 3 seed in the GNAC Championships in their first year as a conference member.

With her selection, Luebbert is now eligible for the CoSIDA Division II Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on Wed., May 25.

Nominated by and voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America, the CoSIDA Academic All-America program recognizes nearly 1,000 student-athletes annually at every level of collegiate athletics. Student-athletes in Division II’s District 8 are selected from the GNAC, the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and the PacWest Conference.
