LOUISVILLE, Ky. – While not only making a deep run into the postseason in 2019, Concordia found itself among the top teams in academic achievement in 2019 according to the list of Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The Cavaliers led four GNAC programs to receive the academic distinction with 12 student-athletes named to the list. In addition, Concordia was the only team of the GNAC’s eight softball programs to make list of Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Teams for Division II.

Honorees to the All-America Scholar-Athlete program must attain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or better and must be nominated by an NFCA member coach. The 26 GNAC honorees are among 1,306 total honorees from a Division II and a record 8,161 student-athletes honored at all levels of the game, college and high school.

Concordia finished third in the GNAC regular-season standings to return to the GNAC Championships for the first time since 2016. With the tournament moved to their home field due to weather concerns, the Cavaliers proceeded to go 3-1 in the tournament and defeated Central Washington to earn the program’s first Division II postseason berth.
