Central Washington outfielder Danielle Monson and Wildcat infielder Kelsey Haupert have been named to the 2010 NCAA Division II All-American teams.
Monson was named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-American first team and, along with Haupert, was also tabbed to the Daktronics, Inc. Division II All-American second team.
The NFCA team is voted upon by a committee of coaches, while the Daktronics squad is selected by sports information directors nationwide.
Monson's first-team All-American selection by the NFCA made her just the second player in the nine-year history of the GNAC to earn such an accolade.
Catcher Jessica Padilla of Humboldt State also earned first-team All-American honors during the Lumberjacks' final season in the GNAC in 2006.
Monson and Haupert become the first Wildcat players in the program's 18-year history to earn All-American honors.
Monson, Central's center fielder, batted .511 with a school and GNAC record 96 hits in 188 at-bats this season.
Haupert, who played both first and third base this season, set CWU and GNAC records for home runs and runs batted in with 18 and 65, respectively, while batting .353.
The duo helped Central Washington earn its first-ever national tournament appearance and a single-season school-record 40 victories.

Central Washington outfielder Danielle Monson and pitcher Lauren Hadenfeld have been selected the GNAC Softball Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year , respectively , as the Wildcats nearly made a clean sweep of the special awards on the 2010 Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-star team.
Dr. Gary Frederick, who coached Central Washington to a school-record 37 victories, was selected GNAC Coach of the Year and CWU first baseman Kelsey Haupert was voted the Newcomer of the Year . The only award that eluded the playoff-bound Wildcats was the Freshman of the Year award. Saint Martin's Joslyn Eugenio was a unanimous winner for that award.
Monson won the GNAC batting title, finishing the regular-season 121 points ahead of CWU shortstop Samantha Petrich, and also set a NCAA Division II national record by hitting in 40 consecutive games on the way to winning Player of the Year honors.
Hadenfeld, meanwhile, won her final nine decisions and led the league with 21 victories and 187 strikeouts. She ranks second in ERA with a 2.39 mark, trailing only teammate Katriina Reime going into the playoffs which begin Friday in Honolulu, Hawaii. Haupert set a GNAC record by hitting 18 home runs and also matched the former conference record for RBIs with 62, though Petrich broke that mark with 64.

Frederick (317-358, 16 years) led the Wildcats to a 37-13 record, including a school-record 13 consecutive wins to end the season earning his second straight Coach of the Year award. Frederick, who shared the award last season with Anthony Stone of MSUB, has won seven career Coach of the Year awards, including three in baseball and two in basketball in a coaching career at CWU that dates back to the 1960s.
Central Washington led the all-star selections placing five players on the first team and one on the second team. Two of its first-team selections - Monson and Hadenfeld - were unanimous. Also earning unanimous selection to the first team were Western Oregon shortstop Tyler Sutherland and Eugenio.
Sutherland was voted to the first team for the fourth year in a row joining CWU's Mallory Holtman (2004-06, 2008) as the only players in conference history to earn first team honors four times.
Four other players were repeat selections, including Monson, catcher Kelly Parsons of Montana State Billings and outfielders Jessica Hallmark of Western Oregon and Michelle Wrigley of Western Washington. Hallmark and Wrigley were first team picks for the third year in a row.
