PORTLAND, Ore. – He is the GNAC Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, co-Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-West Region selection. Now Shadeed Shabazz can add All-American to that list.

The Alaska junior guard was named Wednesday to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America Third Team. He was one of three West Region players elected to the team and is the first Alaska player since Parrish West in 2011 to be named an All-American.

Shabazz finished the season ranked third in Division II in scoring at 26.7 points per game and was the Division II statistical champion in steals with 3.38 steals per game and 115 total steals. In the GNAC Championships quarterfinals on March 5, Shabazz scored 42 points to lead the Nanooks to a 91-88 win over Western Oregon, setting the tournament single-game scoring record in the process.
