PORTLAND, Ore. – Shining both on the field and in the classroom, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference placed seven players on the 2018 Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 Women's Soccer Team.

The league is led by Seattle Pacific and Northwest Nazarene, each of which had a pair of players selected to the All-District Team.

Earning the nod from the Falcons is sophomore Sophia Chilczuk and midfielder Julia DeVere. Chilczuk recorded a 4.00 GPA as a pre-medicine/physiology major while finishing third in the GNAC in goals scored (8). DeVere also made some noise near the top of the GNAC statistic categories, placing fifth in the league in assists (7) from her midfield position in addition to being named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year. The senior posted a 3.91 GPA as a psychology major.

Seniors Madi Taylor and Olivia Carter represent Northwest Nazarene, with Carter's 3.95 GPA leading the way. A business administration major, the defender started all 17 games on the 2018 campaign. Taylor, a pre-physical therapy major, tallied a 3.90 GPA this year. The midfielder finished the year ranked inside the conference's top-10 in goals with six scoring strikes.

Rounding out the all-district representatives are Saint Martin's senior Kylee Sarchett (3.92 GPA), Western Washington midfielder Grace Eversaul (3.81) and Montana State Billings junior Amanda Hemmen (4.00).

The GNAC competed with the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and Pacific West conferences for selections to the NCAA Division II District 8 All-Academic First Team. 11 players made the district's first-team, with the above seven hailing from the GNAC.

Nominated and voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes of sophomore standing or better who are starters or significant reserves for their team with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better. Academic All-District selections will be forwarded for Academic All-American Team consideration, released in early December.
