AMARILLO, Texas – Despite an uneasy start in the opening round, it was a duo that paced the GNAC’s efforts in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Division II West/South Central Super Regional in Amarillo, Texas.

Western Washington freshman Brody Bonfilio and Concordia senior Nick Huff led the GNAC as both players posted second-round scores at even-par 71. Bonfilio finished the day with a pair of birdies while Huff managed four. After finishing five strokes over par in round one, Bonfilio moved into a six-way tie for 34th place (5-over par 147) while Huff improved to a tie for 76th at 10-over par 152.

Simon Fraser finished the day in 14th place and are 10 strokes off eighth-place Oklahoma Christian. Senior Chris Crisologo leads the Clan at 3-over par and recorded the lowest SFU round of the day at 72. Crisologo, who currently sits in a tie for 29th, was one of two Simon Fraser players to record at least four birdies. Junior Marcus Brown bounced back after a tough first round by shooting a 2-over par 73. Leading the Clan after the opening round, sophomore Sy Lovan dropped off the pace by ending the day five strokes over par. He is tied for 47th with sophomore teammate Steve Kerr at 149 strokes.

Western Washington remains 10 strokes behind CSU Pueblo for 19th place. Junior Cody Roth ended the afternoon by shooting a 6-over par 77 while senior Adam Barker shaved two strokes off his first-round score to fire a 78. Senior Willy Scholten started the day with two birdies on the front nine and clubbed a 5-over par 76 to finish the second round at 160 strokes.

The final round of the super regional will begin Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. (Central) at the La Paloma Golf Club. Oklahoma Christian’s Cameron Brown and Holy Names’ Kyle McLay lead the field at 4-under par 138. Cal Baptist leads all teams at 2-over par and fired a tournament-best 278 in the second round.

The top five teams in the standings at the conclusion of the regional will move on to the NCAA Division II Championships Finals, which begin May 21 in Muscle Shoals, Ala., at The Shoals Golf Club.
