PORTLAND, Ore. – Leading all players with a 4.00 grade point average as a health/human performance major, Montana State Billings senior Jarod Paul leads selections to the 2018 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Baseball All-Academic Team.

Paul, a pitcher and first baseman, is one of 13 Yellowjackets receive the prestigious honor. On the field, he has made 17 appearances this season and has recorded 10 putouts for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. He is one of 48 players named to the All-Academic squad.

Paul is one of 10 selections with a GPA higher than a 3.80. He is joined by MSUB junior Matt Dillon (3.82 in accounting), junior Steen Fredrickson (3.85 in finance), sophomore Sam Muskat (3.93 in political science) and junior Jared Winslow (3.93 in health/human performance); Central Washington sophomore Yi-An Pan (undeclared with a 3.94); Concordia senior Bruin Campbell (3.84 in psychology), senior Tyler Charlton (3.86 in psychology) and senior Cole Crosby (3.89 in chemistry); and Northwest Nazarene sophomore Ben Johnson (3.96 in biology: pre-medicine).

A total of 17 players were repeat selections to the team, with four players earning their third selections to the team. The four three-time honorees are Crosby; Montana State Billings senior Adam Cox; Saint Martin’s senior Adam Eskil; and Western Oregon senior Jay Leverett.

Montana State Billings, the 2018 GNAC regular-season champion, leads all teams with 13 selections. Concordia is second on the list with 10 honorees while Western Oregon sees seven players named to the squad.

To be selected for the GNAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must be of sophomore standing or better, have a 3.20 cumulative grade point average or better and be in their second season at the nominating institution.
