ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University director of athletics Dr. Dennis Francois is pleased to announce Will McLaughlin as the new director of athletic communications.
McLaughlin joins the Wildcats from Adams State University where he was the sports information director and oversaw the media efforts for all 19 Adams State's NCAA Division II varsity sports.
"We are excited to have Will join CWU as our director of athletic communications," associate athletic director for externals affairs Tyler Unsicker said. "He will be a great addition to our athletic department and continue to elevate our student-athlete experience and the ways in which we promote our student-athletes."
Prior to joining Adams State, McLaughlin served as an athletic media relations graduate assistant for the University of Central Missouri for two years. During his time with UCM, McLaughlin had the privilege of being the primary contact for the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championship women's soccer team. He also got to help assist in covering the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship women's basketball team.
He was responsible for numerous sports, including women's golf, women's bowling, men's basketball, wrestling, and women's soccer. He also served as the secondary contact for men's golf, baseball and softball.
Before his time in Missouri, McLaughlin served as a student broadcaster and video editor for his alma mater, Chadron State College. McLaughlin was a crucial part of the buildup of CSC Live, a large live streaming production that used student workers for gameday operations. He assisted running cameras and switchers, as well as his main role in broadcasting. During his time at CSC, McLaughlin also competed for the Eagles track and field team for three years, as well as a short stint with the re-established cross country team his freshman year.
McLaughlin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with options in public relations and journalism from Chadron State in May 2016 and his Master of Arts degree in mass communications/media studies from Central Missouri in May 2018.
