KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Alaska Anchorage senior Brian Pearson was among 10 collegiate men’s basketball players named Wednesday to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ 2019 Give Back Team.

A senior from Elko, Nev., Pearson was among five honorees from the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA ranks to earn a spot on the Give Back Team, which recognizes student-athletes for their community service efforts.

“Brian was a leader in helping our team accumulate more than 500 hours of community service last year,” said UAA head coach Rusty Osborne. “Whether it’s Special Olympics or Reading With the Seawolves or interacting with his Team Impact teammate, Brian was always eager to participate. He’s the kind of student-athlete who sets a terrific example, both on and off the court.”

Pearson was also a five-year member of UAA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Along with Pearson, the other non-Division I representatives on the NABC Give Back Team were Jordan Bonner of Wesleyan University, Daniel Burchette of North Greenville University, Savonte Chappell of Christopher Newport University, and Kai Skinner of Westminster (Pa.) College.
