Throughout the year, GNACsports.com uses this space to profile conference student-athletes who are members of their respective institutions' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In addition to providing feedback on the student-athlete experience, conference and institutional SAAC members also offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses. Click here for more information on the function of SAAC at the NCAA level.

Name: Raquel Pellecer
Sport: Track & Field
School: Western Washington University
Year: Senior
Major: Accounting
Hometown: Sandy, Oregon

Why Did You Choose To Attend Western Washington: I love the location of WWU. Attending a school with the view of Bellingham Bay is hard to beat. There is also a well known javelin program here that is part of the incredible track and field program PeeWee Halsell has created. I love the atmosphere and love the team!

What Is Your Favorite Class You Have Taken In College And Why: My favorite class I have taken in college is marine science. The class began at the base of the food chain and worked all the way up to mammals. The class was both fun and informative.

Who Is Your Favorite Professor You've Had In College And What Did You Enjoy About Learning From Him Or Her: Dr. Steve Smith. The man took basic accounting principles and generated an engaging and high energy class everyday.

Years Involved In SAAC: Three years.

Future Goals After School:  After college I would like to earn my CPA and work for an accounting firm that has a positive atmosphere.

What Is The Most Important Thing You've Learned From Balancing The Demands Of Athletics And Academics: The most important thing I have learned is that hard work and attention to detail really matter. In the classroom it will lead to higher test scores and a better understanding of material.  In track and field it will lead to being stronger, faster and more successful.

Current Mentors:  Amanda Peterson and Claire Brunhaver.

If I Could Spend The Day With One Person (Past Or Present), Who Would It Be (And Why):  Bill Bowerman. The man's a legend.

Favorite Sports Team: Portland Trail Blazers, RIP CITY BABY!!
