PORTLAND, Ore. – Amy Foster, associate athletic director and senior woman administrator at Seattle Pacific University, has been appointed to the NCAA Division II Management Council.

Foster, who has been a part of the Falcons’ athletic staff since 2010, will begin a four-year term as the GNAC’s representative on the council in January. She will replace outgoing GNAC representative Dr. Gary Gray, athletics director at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Gray currently serves as chair of the Management Council.

“I am excited for this opportunity to serve on the NCAA Management Council,” said Foster, a 1993 graduate of Seattle Pacific. “My goal is to always provide student-athletes with the best Division II experience they can have as part of their university experience.  Serving in this capacity allows me to be a part of a community that is striving for the same goals and to provide recommendations to the NCAA body to allow this to continue.  It is an honor to be chosen to represent the GNAC and I will strive to showcase our outstanding conference as much as possible.”

The Management Council, which is charged with recommending administrative policy and regulations that govern the division, is comprised of 29 members, including one administrator or representative from each of the Division II multisport voting conferences; one administrator or representative of Division II independent institutions; two representatives from the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee; and two at-large positions to help achieve diversity of representation.

“Amy will do an excellent job representing the entire GNAC membership on the Management Council, and we are excited for her appointment and future service to all of Division II,” said GNAC commissioner Dave Haglund. “In addition, we are extremely thankful and appreciative for the intensive four years of work Gary Gray put forth as a member of the Management Council, culminating with his selection as the chairperson of this committee. He has done a superb job representing the GNAC and the division.”

In her current role, Foster manages all finances, financial aid, and travel for SPU athletics. She also supervises internal relations.

Foster lives outside Seattle with her husband Chris and three children.
