PORTLAND, Ore. - Seattle Pacific travels to Burnaby, B.C. Thursday to take on Simon Fraser in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men’s soccer game that will have conference, regional and national implications.

Seattle Pacific slipped one position in the national poll this week after playing to two draws last week at Northwest Nazarene (0-0) and Montana State Billings (1-1), but is still ranked third in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association poll.  SPU remained No.1 in the West Regional poll.

The Falcons (6-0-2, 2-0-2), however, did fall to a tie for second with Northwest Nazarene (3-2-3, 2-0-2) in the GNAC standings, one point in back of Simon Fraser (7-1-0, 3-1-0), which used an overtime goal by Colin Jacques to defeat the University of Mary 3-2 and sweep their two-game road trip to Bismarck and Sioux Falls where they posted a 5-1 win.   SFU climbed two spots in the regional poll from sixth to fourth.

Carlo Basso had two goals and two assists on the road trip and is ranked ninth this week in the NCAA Division II national statistical report in points, averaging 2.63 per game.  Basso ranks seventh in total points (21), eighth in goals per game (1.13) and sixth in total goals (6).

The highest ranked GNAC player is Thomas Chameraud of Montana State Billings, who ranks second in assists with sixth.  Chameraud also ranks third in assists per game (0.86).

Other Top 10 ranked players include Chris Bargholz of Simon Fraser, seventh in assists with five; Sioux Falls’ Kyle Simons, third in total saves with 53 and fourth in saves per game (7.57) and Michael Frenzel of Mary, ninth in total saves with 44.

In team categories, Simon Fraser ranks second in total goals with 29, fourth in goals per game (3.63) and total points (77) and ninth in total assists with 19.  Sioux Falls ranks third in saves per game (7.71), while Northwest Nazarene ranks ninth in shutout percentage (.625).
