SEATTLE -- The GNAC's regular-season champion saw its season come to an end Saturday night as No. 4 Simon Fraser fell in the second round of the NCAA Division II Championships.

For the third consecutive year, it was the team's postseason rival Cal Poly Pomona that knocked the Clan out of the postseason. The Broncos are headed to the tournament's third round after recording the 1-0 overtime victory.

With six minutes gone in the night's first overtime period, sophomore Eduardo Faria got behind SFU's final defender and crossed the ball deep into the box for defender Eduard Lucas. Lucas was able to tap in the golden goal to give his team the one-goal win.

The No. 1 seed had a couple of good looks down the stretch in regulation, its best chance coming with eight minutes left in regulation. Midfielder Rahid Rahiem received a pass near the corner flag and was able to direct the ball to Marcello Polisi, who placed a deep boot into a dangerous position in the box. However, the ball was snatched up by the Cal Poly Pomona keeper, keeping the match even at 0-0.

Simon Fraser outshot the Broncos 9-6 and was led by forward Matteo Polisi, who finished the match with three shots.

The match was the Clan's first of the postseason after receiving a first-round bye. GNAC champions for a third straight year, they end the season with a record of 17-2-0.

With the win, Cal Poly Pomona advances to take on No. 2 seed Azusa Pacific in next week's West Region title match.
