Five GNAC Programs Recognized For Exceptional Team GPAs

PORTLAND, Ore. – On Thursday, the Central Washington, Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific soccer programs were announced on the College Team Academic Award Winners list by the United Soccer Coaches for the 2016-17 academic school year.

The award recognized NCAA soccer programs that maintained a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher last season.

Of the 828 programs, 288 men’s teams were recognized while 540 women’s teams achieved the feat. A total of 204 schools were recognized for having both their men’s and women’s programs exceed the 3.0 GPA qualification.

On the men’s side, the Falcons earned the highest GNAC GPA with a 3.30 under head coach Mark Collings while the Yellowjackets achieved a 3.13 GPA under head coach Alex Balog.

As for the women, Central Washington pulled off a 3.41 mark with Michael Farrand at the helm, while MSUB earned a 3.44 GPA under Stephen Cavallo. The Falcons rounded out the GNAC awards with a 3.41 cumulative average with Arby Busey as head coach.

All five programs partake in GNAC action this Saturday, Oct. 7.
