PORTLAND, Ore. – After being named GNAC Player of the Year, Simon Fraser’s junior midfielder Adam Jones continues to bring in honors, receiving Division II Conference Commissioners Association West Region Player of the Year recognition to lead the 2016 All-D2CCA West Region Team.

Jones recorded 10 goals and nine assists in his junior campaign, while leading Simon Fraser to a 14-1-3 season that saw the Clan earn the top seed in the NCAA West Regional. Jones’ 29 points led the GNAC and ranked fifth in the West Region. As a midfielder, he also played a big part in Simon Fraser having a goals against average of 0.63, which ranked second in the West Region and eighth in Division II.

Simon Fraser was also represented on the first team by Magnus Kristensen and Ryan Dhillon. Kristensen was named GNAC Defensive Player of the Year after leading a defensive line that only allowed 126 shots and 11 goals all season. Dhillon tallied four goals and seven assists to earn All-West Region recognition for the second time, his first selection since 2012. Dhillon finished his career tied for 12th all-time in the GNAC for points with 69 and ranks among the top-20 players in goals (24), assists (21) and shots (147).

The GNAC’s scoring leader and Newcomer of the Year from Montana State Billings, Julien Dragomir, was a second-team honoree. Dragomir scored just over one goal per 100 minutes in 2016, which was the second-best scoring rate in the GNAC. Seattle Pacific was represented by defender Davis Karaica, who challenged opposing shots. The Falcons’ opponents only scored on 26.9 percent of shots in 2016.

Simon Fraser also had two players receive second-team recognition. Senior goalkeeper Brandon Watson is the GNAC’s all-time record holder for shutouts with 31 and Mamadi Camara registered nine goals and six assists in his sophomore season. Camara was one of five underclassmen to receive all-West Region recognition.
