PORTLAND, Ore. – The Otter Fall Invitational held in Seaside, Calif., marked the final tournament of the 2017-18 GNAC men’s golf fall season for Concordia, Northwest Nazarene, Simon Fraser and Western Washington.

Placing third overall and leading Simon Fraser to a fourth-place finish at the Otter Fall Invitational, SFU’s Chris Crisologo was named the GNAC Men’s Golf Player of the Week. Along with the award, Crisologo was called up on Wednesday to represent Team Canada as part of the 2018 National Amateur Squad.

Concordia’s Isaac Hall (3-over par 216) led a Cavaliers’ squad that placed second while Western Washington placed three golfers in the top-five (Cody Roth, Ethan Casto and Brady Bonfilio) to ensure a fourth-place finish at the Concordia Invitational last week Monday.

Crisologo won his first tournament of 2017-18 and the seventh win of his SFU career after carding a 4-under par 67 in the final round of the CU Invitational to finish at even-par 213, leading Simon Fraser to a third-place team finish.

Montana State Billings fell to Rocky Mountain in match play, 7.5-4.5, last weekend at the Mike Grob Cup. Taking a 2-1 lead during the first day of the tournament, Rocky Mountain outscored MSUB 6.5-2.5 to take the cup.

AROUND THE GNAC
CONCORDIA
LAST WEEK: Oct. 9-10 at Concordia Invitational, 2nd of 10, 869 (300-279-290). Oct. 16-17 at Otter Fall Invitational, 10th of 19, 890 (291-300-299).

• Hall led Concordia with a 1-over par 217 at the Otter Invitational, finishing tied for 11th. As a team, the Cavaliers finished in 10th place with a team score of 890.

• Finishing in a four-way tie for 22nd was Nick Huff, who shot a 5-over par 221. Huff carded a 73 in the first round and finished with back-to-back rounds of 74 strokes to finish with 221. He ended just three strokes out of 13th place.

• Hall shot a 3-over par 216 to finish second overall and lead the Cavaliers to a second-place finish at their own Concordia Invitational. Hall finished three strokes behind medalist Chris Crisologo. The Cavaliers shot a team score 869 to finish just one stroke out first-place finishers British Columbia.

• Huff finished one stroke behind Hall with a three-round score of 5-over par 218. The senior started rebounded with a 4-under par 67 in his second round after shooting an initial 8-over par 79.

MONTANA STATE BILLINGS
LAST WEEK: Oct. 9-10 at Concordia Invitational, T8th of 10, 916 (297-301-318). Oct. 14-15 at Mike Grob Cup, loss vs. Rocky Mountain, 7.5-4.5.

• At the Mike Grob Cup last weekend, Montana State Billings took a 2-1 win over Rocky Mountain in an 18-hole match play event. Scott Larson and Caleb Trost teamed up for one of MSUB's points, while Jayd Dion and Garrett Woodin also won their matchup on the opening day of play.

• The Yellowjackets could not keep its momentum, however, as Rocky Mountain edged the 'Jackets 7.5-4.5 during the two-day event to claim the cup. Larson and Woodin had wins for MSUB during singles play on Sunday. Dion earned a half-point with an even finish.

• In their eighth-place finish at the Concordia Invitational on Tuesday, Caleb Stetzner led the 'Jackets with a 28th-place finish, scoring a three-round total of 227. Trost ended just one stroke behind, completing the event in a tie for 29th place at 228.

NORTHWEST
NAZARENE
LAST WEEK: Oct. 9-10 at Concordia Invitational, 7th of 10, 901 (298-306-297). Oct. 16-17 at Otter Fall Invitational, 16th of 19, 916 (314-307-295).

• Northwest Nazarene posted a final-round 295 to finish 16th at the Otter Invitational on Tuesday.

Drew Lunt led the Nighthawks with an even-par 72 in the third round and finished tied for 26th overall with 222.  Andrew Cortez tied for 43rd with a 225.

• Northwest Nazarene carded a final round 297 to finish seventh at the Concordia Invitational on Tuesday.

• Leading the way for NNU was Cortez, who posted his first top-20 finish with a tie for 18th with a score of 223.

SAINT MARTINS
LAST WEEK: Oct. 9-10 at Concordia Invitational, T8th of 10, 916 (320-299-297).
THIS WEEK: Oct. 27-28 at Dennis Rose Invitational, Hilo, Hawaii.

• Dropping 11 strokes from his second-round performance, Tyler Fitchett (tied 40th overall) posted a team low even-par 71 in the third round to help the Saints to an eighth-place finish at the Concordia Invitational.

• Leading the Saints was Andrew Raab, who placed tied for 11th overall with a 7-over par 220. Raab converted nine birdies through 54 holes and carded a second-round 2-under par 69.

Trevor Frisby was the second-lowest Saints’ placer, scoring an 18-over par 231 for 36th place. Chace Daskalos and Derrick Phelps rounded out the scorecard for Saint Martin's with 53rd and 55th place finishes.

• The Saints are the lone GNAC team to travel to Hilo, Hawaii at the end of the month to play in the Dennis Rose Invitational.

SIMON FRASER

Chris Crisologo fired a final round 69 to climb into third place and lead No. 20 Simon Fraser team to a share of fourth place at the Otter Fall Invitational on Tuesday.

• Defending tournament champion Crisologo shot rounds of 72, 70 and 69 to finish 5-under par 211 and claim third place.

• Crisologo now has top-five finishes in all four tournaments this fall. Earlier this week, Crisologo was named the GNAC Men’s Golf Player of the Week and was called up to represent Team Canada as part of the 2018 National Amateur Squad.

• At the Concordia Invitational last week, Crisologo won his first tournament of the season (74-72-67) to lead Simon Fraser to a third-place finish.

• Simon Fraser placed three golfers in the top-25. Sy Lovan ended the tournament tied for 14th after scoring an 8-over par 221. Scott Kerr, who won his first tournament at Western Washington two weeks ago, was one stroke back of Lovan in 17th. He carded three rounds of 74.

WESTERN WASHINGTON
LAST WEEK: Oct. 9-10 at Concordia Invitational, 4th of 10, 880 (289-293-298). Oct. 16-17 at Otter Fall Invitational, 11th of 19, 893 (298-304-291).

• Western Washington shot its best round of the Otter Fall Invitational on Tuesday with a third-round team score of 3-over par 291 to finish in 11th.

• Senior Adam Barker led the Vikings with a share of seventh overall. Barker shot rounds of 69-75-71 on the par 72 layout. He converted 13 birdies, which tied for fifth-most among the field.

• Roth, Casto and Bonfilio all finished in the top five to lead the Vikings to a 4th-place finish at the Concordia Invitational earlier this week.

• Roth led the Vikings with a third-place finish at 4-over par 271, achieving his highest finish with the program. Roth ended the tournament one stroke behind second-place finisher Isaac Hall and four strokes behind tournament champion Crisologo.

• Casto and Bonfilio tied for fourth place at 5-over par 218. Casto carded a final-round 3-over-par 74 for his highest-career finish. The freshman Bonfilio captured his second top-10 finish in just two tournament appearances this season.
