GNAC Teams Wrap Up Fall Season In Upcoming Weeks

PORTLAND, Ore. – This week’s Concordia Invitational marked the last time where all GNAC teams will be together until the spring.

Simon Fraser’s Chris Crisologo won his first tournament of 2017-18 after carding a 4-under par 67 in the final round of the invitational to finish at even-par 213, leading Simon Fraser to a third-place team finish and the seventh win of his SFU career.

Concordia’s Isaac Hall (3-over par 216) led a Cavaliers’ squad that placed second while Western Washington placed three golfers in the top-five (Cody Roth, Ethan Casto and Brady Bonfilio) to ensure a fourth-place finish.

Montana State Billings’ Caleb Stetzner earned the GNAC Men’s Golfer of the Week honor after finishing tied for 14th place at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate last week with a three-round score of 3-under-par 213. He shot a season-low 3-under par 69 in the second round and finished at 2-under par 70 in the final round.

• Hall shot a 3-over par 216 to finish second overall and lead the Cavaliers to a second-place finish at their own Concordia Invitational. Hall finished three strokes behind medalist Chris Crisologo. The Cavaliers shot a team score 869 to finish just one stroke out first-place finishers British Columbia.
Nick Huff finished one stroke behind Hall with a three-round score of 5-over par 218. The senior started rebounded with a 4-under par 67 in his second round after shooting an initial 8-over par 79.
• Ending in a three-way tie for 11th place was Braeden Campbell. Campbell carded a 7-over par 220 and was one stroke out of eighth place. 
• Concordia ends its fall season at the Otter Fall Invitational on Monday.

• Stetzner was the highest placer at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate last week, finishing tied for 14th with a 3-under par 213. • Caleb Trost carded a 6-over par 222 during the three-round tournament, ending tied for 40th.
• Stetzner’s performance at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate earned him the GNAC Men’s Golf Player of the Week award.
• In their eighth-place finish at the Concordia Invitational on Tuesday, Stetzner led the 'Jackets with a 28th-place finish, scoring a three-round total of 227. Trost ended just one stroke behind, completing the event in a tie for 29th place at 228.
• The ‘Jackets final match will be at the Mike Grob Cup in Billings, Mont., starting this weekend.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE
LAST WEEK: Oct. 9-10 at Concordia Invitational, 7th of 10, 901 (298-306-297).

• Northwest Nazarene posted a final round 297 to finish seventh at the Concordia Invitational on Tuesday.
• Leading the way for NNU was freshman Andrew Cortez, who posted his first top-20 finish with a tie for 18th with a score of 223.
• Henry Bernard came in 27th while Justin Higgins tied for 31st. Isaac Emerson and Drew Lunt tied for 36th after carding
• The Crusaders wrap up the fall with a trip to Seaside, Calif., to participate in the Otter Fall Invitational.

SAINT MARTINS
LAST WEEK: Oct. 9-10 at Concordia Invitational, T8th of 10, 916 (320-299-297).
THIS WEEK: Oct. 27-28 at Dennis Rose Invitational, Hilo, Hawaii.
• Dropping 11 strokes from his second-round performance, Tyler Fitchett (tied 40th overall) posted a team-low even-par 71 in the third round to help the Saints to an eighth-place finish at the Concordia Invitational.
• Leading the Saints was Andrew Raab, who placed tied for 11th overall with a 7-over par 220. Raab converted nine birdies through 54 holes and carded a second-round 2-under par 69.
Trevor Frisby was the second-lowest Saints’ placer, scoring an 18-over par 231 for 36th place. Chace Daskalos and Derrick Phelps rounded out the scorecard for Saint Martin's with 53rd and 55th place finishes.
• The Saints are the lone GNAC team to travel to Hilo, Hawaii at the end of the month to play in the Dennis Rose Invitational.

• Reigning GNAC Men’s Golfer of the Year Crisologo won his first tournament of the season to lead Simon Fraser to a third-place finish at the Concordia Invitational on Tuesday.
• Crisologo scored a final round 4-under par 67 to climb from 12th place at the start the day to medalist honors.
• Simon Fraser figured three golfers in the top-25. Sy Lovan ended the tournament tied for 14th after scoring an 8-over par 221. Scott Kerr, who won his first tournament at Western Washington two weeks ago, was one stroke back of Lovan in 17th. He carded three rounds of 74.
• Simon Fraser, along with four other GNAC teams, prepare for the Otter Fall Invitational next week in Seaside, Calif.

WESTERN WASHINGTON
LAST WEEK: Oct. 9-10 at Concordia Invitational, 4th of 10, 880 (289-293-298).
THIS WEEK: Oct. 16-17 at Otter Fall Invitational, Seaside, Calif.
• Roth, Casto, and Bonfilio all finished in the top five to lead the Vikings to a 4th-place finish at the Concordia Invitational earlier this week.
• Roth led the Vikings with a third-place finish at 4-over par 271, achieving his highest finish with the program. Roth ended the tournament one stroke behind second-place finisher Isaac Hall and four strokes behind tournament champion Crisologo.
• Casto and Bonfilio tied for fourth place at 5-over par 218. Casto carded a final-round 3-over-par 74 for his highest-career finish. The freshman Bonfilio captured his second top-10 finish in just two tournament appearances this season.
• The Vikings end its fall season at the Otter Fall Invitational on Monday.

Caleb Stetzner (Montana State Billings, So., Anaconda, Mont. – Anaconda): Stetzner finished tied for 14th place at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate with a three-round score of 3-under-par 213. He shot a season-low 3-under-par 69 in the second round and finished at 2-under-par 70 in the final round.
