NORMAN, Okla. – Three members of the Simon Fraser men’s golf team were named All-West Region in Division II Tuesday by the PING Golf Coaches Association of America.

Freshman Chris Crisologo, sophomore Kevin Vigna and junior Bret Thompson were selected to the 14-member West Region team.

The three golfers toped the GNAC in scoring average while leading the Clan to their first-ever GNAC title and second-straight NCAA Championship appearance.

Crisologo was named the GNAC Freshman of the Year this season. He tied the low round of the year in the conference with a 66 at the GNAC Championships and led the Clan in scoring in both the NCAA West/South Central Regional and at the NCAA Championships.

Vigna was selected as the GNAC Player of the Year and had the lowest scoring-average among the 48 conference golfers at 71.8 per round. Vigna ended the year with three top five finishes and had 16 rounds under-par.

Thompson was the only member of SFU to win a tournament in the 2014-15 season. He was the individual champion at the GNAC Championships where he shot a GNAC-record 205 in the three-round tournament. His 68 and 67 in the first two rounds also set a conference record.

At the NCAA Championships, the Clan finished fifth in the stroke-play rounds, the highest ever by a GNAC team, to become one of only eight teams to advance to match play. SFU would fall to St. Leo to tie for a fifth-place finish in the match play round.

SFU would end the year as the fourth ranked team in Division II according to Golfstat. The three golfers ranked in the top 36 nationally as well, led by Crisologo who placed fifth.

Vigna and Thompson also entered in the top 10 all-time in GNAC career scoring-average at 73.52 and 74.46, respectively.

Cal State Monterey Bay would lead the West Region with four golfers on the team. Chico State would tie with Simon Fraser for second with three apiece.

The Division II PING All-Region teams were made up of 116 golfers from eight different regions.
