NAMPA, Idaho -- Recent Northwest Nazarene grad Zach Grunig has been awarded a $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

To qualify for the award, student-athletes must excel academically and athletically, be in their final year of eligibility and plan to pursue graduate study.

Student-athletes must also maintain at least a 3.2 grade-point average and be nominated by their institution's Faculty Athletics Representative.

Zach received his Bachelors of Science in Biology this past May. He earned an accumulative GPA of 3.60 during his time at NNU and was nominated for highest honors by the Biology program his senior year.

Grunig was a major part of the men's golf team all four years at NNU. He was named to the All-Academic team three consecutive years.

In his junior year Grunig was named to the GNAC second team all-conference squad and was also a recipient of NNU's Taylor Golf Award.

This past spring Grunig finished in a tie for third at the GNAC Golf Championships.

Grunig is currently attending Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee where he is pursuing a masters degree to become a Physicians Assistant.
