MONMOUTH, Ore. -- Long-time administrators at Western Oregon called it the largest home crowd for a men's basketball game in Wolves history.

More than 2,000 packed the New PE Building Friday night and helped spur the top-seeded Wolves to an 82-65 victory over eighth-seeded Humboldt State on the opening day of the NCAA Division II West Regional.

The victory moved WOU (28-3) into Saturday night's 7:30 p.m. semifinal matchup vs. Azusa Pacific (23-8), a 76-66 winner over GNAC member Seattle Pacific in an earlier quarterfinal matchup. The first semifinal, which tips at 5 p.m. PT, matches second-seeded UC San Diego (23-7) of the CCAA and third-seeded Cal Baptist (28-6) of the PacWest.

Tonight's semifinal winners will meet Monday night, also at Western Oregon, in the regional championship game. The regional winner will advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, slated to take place outside Dallas, Texas March 23-26.
