PORTLAND, Ore. – A four-year performer for Concordia top the list of men’s basketball academic performers as Taylor Harris leads 32 selections to the 2017-18 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team.
Harris is one of two student-athletes to earn selection to the team for the third consecutive year. Harris, who has a 3.96 cumulative grade point average as a business major, has been a part-time starter at guard for the Cavaliers with 13 starts in 24 total games. He enters this week averaging 5.3 points per game. The Portland, Oregon native is joined as a three-time selection by Seattle Pacific’s Sam Simpson.
The duo is among 16 repeat selections to the All-Academic Team and among seven student-athletes with a 3.70 GPA or better. Others above the 3.70 threshold include Concordia’s Daniel Duitsman, Montana State Billings’ Kamal Tall, Northwest Nazarene’s Marko Leprovic, Saint Martin’s Cameron Chatwin and Seattle Pacific’s Nathan Streufert.
Seattle Pacific landed eight players on the All-Academic Team, accounting for over half of the team’s roster. The Falcons had six repeat selections. Concordia finished with six honorees, three of which are repeat selections.
To be eligible for the GNAC All-Academic Teams, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher, be in their second season competing at their current institutions and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better.
