LEXINGTON, Ky. – Over half of the GNAC’s volleyball programs have been honored for academic achievement by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with the organization’s United States Marine Corps/AVCA Team Academic Award.

Alaska, Central Washington, Northwest Nazarene, Seattle Pacific, Simon Fraser, Western Oregon and Western Washington were all honored by the AVCA for maintaining a year-long GPA of 3.30 or better.

Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington earned further distinction with selection to the AVCA’s Team Academic Honor Roll with both programs ranking among the top-36 GPAs among Division II women’s programs. Northwest Nazarene led all GNAC programs with a 3.75 GPA while Central Washington compiled a 3.65 GPA according to information compiled for the GNAC’s team academic awards.

A record total of 1,313 from all levels of the sport, including college and high school, were recognized with the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. The list includes a total of 171 Division II programs.
