ATLANTA – Following a pair of electrifying senior seasons that saw their squads advance to the GNAC Women’s Basketball Championships final, Alaska Anchorage point guard Yazmeen Goo and Western Washington center Anna Schwecke earned honorable mention recognition on the 2020 Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Team.

Goo, a First Team All-GNAC selection, helped to lead the Seawolves to their sixth straight regular-season title and their sixth GNAC Championships title. Along with anchoring the defensive end, Goo averaged 10.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game and ranked third in the conference with a .568 field goal percentage, fifth with 1.9 steals per game and sixth with 3.9 assists per game. Her 270 career steals rank fourth on the GNAC all-time list. Goo was also selected to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association’s (D2CCA) Women’s Basketball All-West Region Second Team.

Schwecke earned First-Team All-GNAC honors after leading the Vikings to the No. 3 seed in the GNAC Championships. The Vikings returned to the tournament final for the seventh time and the first time since 2017. Schwecke ended her senior campaign averaging 12.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, leading the conference with a .611 field goal percentage and ranking third with a .856 free-throw percentage.

Goo averaged 12.5 points and three rebounds per game at the GNAC Championships, connecting on 58.8 percent from the field while adding six assists and three steals in two games. Schwecke averaged 11.7 points and five rebounds per game in three games at the GNAC Championships. Her tournament was highlighted by a near double-double of 16 points and nine rebounds in the Vikings’ semifinal win over Northwest Nazarene.

The WBCA presents the Player of the Year award annually to the top player in five of the six WBCA membership divisions. The Player of the Year and the 10-member Coaches’ All-America team in each division are selected by a committee of WBCA member coaches in that division.
