NEW YORK – Simon Fraser senior Mamadi Camara, who led the Clan to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship West Regional for the third straight year, was one of four Canadians invited to participate in the 2019 Major League Soccer Player Combine.

The initial 60 college players invited to participate includes just four Canadians. Camara is the only player invited from a Canadian university and the only player invited from an NCAA Division II institution.

Top collegiate players will showcase their talents in front of representatives from all 24 MLS clubs in Orlando, Fla. from Jan. 3-9, 2018. All invited players will be eligible for selection in the 2019 SuperDraft presented by adidas which will take place on Friday, Jan. 11 in Chicago's McCormick Place in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Camara, named to the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team, finished the 2018 season with nine goals and 13 assists. The senior from Montreal ranked 28th nationally in total points with 31.

A committee of MLS coaches and NCAA Division I coaches from every conference selected the invitees, all of whom completed their college eligibility this season. Further invitees including Generation adidas signings, non-collegiate players, and additional college seniors will be announced in the coming weeks.

The last SFU player selected in an MLS Draft was striker Jovan Blagojevic, who had his name called by the Vancouver Whitecaps during the third round of the 2015 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Blagojevic was selected 54th overall after a season in which he was selected GNAC and NCAA West Region Player of the Year and was named NCAA All-America Second Team.

SFU men's soccer lost 1-0 in overtime to Cal Poly Pomona in the second round of the NCAA Division II Championship. SFU's overall record was 17-2-0 and the team was ranked No. 1 in NCAA for most of the season, after a 16 game win streak to start the season.
