PORTLAND, Ore. – The conference’s weekly radio show return last Tuesday and featured a pair of record holders and the reigning GNAC Men’s Golf Player of the Week.

The current Montana State Billings career leader in hits and batting average, senior softball outfielder Heather Tracy, lead off the program while Western Washington men’s junior golfer Cody Roth spoke about his recent tournament success. Concordia senior thrower Melissa Ausman capped the night with thoughts on her record-breaking weekend. The show was hosted by Rob Lowery.

Speed, power, and contact are just a few things that Tracy has made a living on during her MSUB career. The senior is having a phenomenal season thus far as she leads the GNAC in batting average (.513), slugging percentage (.735), on-base percentage (.529), runs scored (34), hits (60) and total bases (86). Not only are her season numbers impressive, but her career totals are just as sublime. During her four-year Yellowjackets’ career, Tracy has become the MSUB all-time hits and batting average leader. She also has the most triples and total bases in Yellowjackets’ history.

Roth, the reigning GNAC Men’s Golf Player of the Week, paced the conference at last week’s Mustang Intercollegiate by finishing in a sixth-place tie after carding a 9-under par 207. He combined to shoot 7-under par on the opening day before closing his run with a 2-under par 70 in the final round to lead Western Washington to a third-place tie.  The Vikings lead the GNAC with 14 top-10 finishes this year and have four players averaging a 74.4 stroke average or better. Western Washington will play its next tournament at the GNAC Championships, which is scheduled for April 23-24 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort in Idaho.

Competing in her first year for the Cavaliers, Ausman has already produced several impressive performances in both indoor and outdoor field competitions. Her most notable performance came last weekend at the John Knight Twilight hosted by Western Oregon, where she achieved a first-place finish and broke the GNAC discus record with a mark of 170 feet, 10 inches. Ausman, the reigning GNAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, looks to continue her remarkable season this weekend at the Triton Classic in La Jolla, Calif.
