PORTLAND, Ore. - Concordia University Vice President & Director of Athletics Brian Jamros has announced that he is stepping down his current position to take the Athletic Director position at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.

"It has been a privilege to serve as Vice President and Director of Athletics the past two years at Concordia," said Jamros. "President (Charles) Schlimpert and the search committee took a chance when they hired me and I have grown so much personally and professionally. I look forward to using this experience in my new role as athletic director at The College of Saint Scholastica. I would also like to thank all of the coaches, staff and student-athletes that allowed me to be a small part of their journey and I look forward to following the success of the Cavaliers at the Division II level."

Jamros led the institution's pending move from NAIA to NCAA Division II, developed and implemented long range planning initiatives and successful fundraising efforts, including a corporate partners program. Included in these projects and fundraising projects were the renovation of the university's weight room, adding a new women's track and field locker room along with moving the softball team on-campus for the first time in program history.

Under his leadership at Concordia Portland, all 15 varsity teams had a cumulative grade point average above a 3.0 with an overall GPA of 3.24 in 2016-17.

Prior to working at Concordia Portland, James spent nine years at Concordia University, St. Paul in a variety of positions ranging from director of marketing and promotions to associate athletic director for external relations. He also supervised nine varsity sports, which included budget and travel oversight and served as chair of the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee.

Jamros will begin his post as director of athletics at The College of St. Scholastica on July 24.

The university will start the process of finding a replacement immediately.
