STOCKTON, Calif. – Competing in just her fifth tournament of the season, Western Washington freshman Hannah Drake made the most of the opportunity, tying for 18th place at the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf West Super Regional on the Brookside Country Club.

After shooting her best round of the season at even-par 72 in the first round, Drake followed up with a 73 and 78 to compete the best tournament of her freshman campaign. She paced the Vikings in all three rounds individually, helping lead them to a ninth place team finish.

Senior Kristen Hansen tied for 27th for the Vikings, tying Drake with a 78 in the final round. Sophomore Jenn Paul tied for 40th with a three-round score of 231. Junior Brooke Branigan shot 78 in the final round to tie for 48th place and junior Audrey Orem finished the tournament at 243.

Saint Martin’s individual participant Jennifer Liedes tied for 33rd with a three-round score of 228. Her second round score of 2-under-par 70 was the third lowest of the round.

Tartleton State took first place, with a team score of 876. They will be joined by Dallas Baptist and West Texas A&M in the national championships. Tarleton State’s Isabell Jimenez Perea was the medalist for the tournament, shooting 6-under-par 210 over the three rounds. California Baptist’s Erica Wang, Oklahoma Christian’s Audrey Meisch and Academy of Art’s Sterling Hawkins will each compete at nationals as individuals.

The NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships will be May 18-21, at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. The finals will be hosted by Metro State as part of the NCAA Division II Spring Sports Festival.
