PORTLAND, Ore. - Four Great Northwest Athletic Conference athletes, including Central Washington volleyball player Marcy Hjellum, have earned Red Lion Player of the Week honors for their performances during the Week of Nov. 12-18, 2012.  They include:

Volleyball

Offense – Marcy Hjellum, Central Washington (OH, 5-11, Sr., Kennewick, WA - Kamiakin) had 28 kills and 20 digs to earn Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week honors.  She led the Wildcats to a sweep of Alaska Fairbanks and Alaska Anchorage as CWU nailed down a post-season playoff berth. Defense – Heather Allen, Northwest Nazarene (MB, 5-10, Sr., Boise, ID) had 16 blocks including 10 (the second highest single-match total this fall in the GNAC) in Saturday’s 3-1 win against Alaska Fairbanks.  Allen, the Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week, also had 13 kills and hit for a .333 percentage (13-2-33). Honorable Mention – Kayla Erickson, Western Washington; Samantha Ward, Western Oregon; Becky Blees, Western Oregon.

Women's Basketball

Sasha King, Alaska Anchorage (G, 5-6, Sr., Norman, OK – Hutchinson) scored 35 points and also had 16 assists leading the Seawolves to 85-76 and 70-67 victories over Regis.  King, who made six of 16 three-pointers, also had five steals in earning Red Lion Player of the Week honors.  Honorable Mention – Britt Harris, Western Washington; Mariah Durian, Western Oregon.

Men's Basketball

Pat Voeut, Alaska Fairbanks (G, 5-11, Jr., Bellingham, WA – Whatcom CC) scored 46 points and also had 19 assists, nine rebounds and five steals leading the Nanooks to the team title in the GCI Alaska Invitational at Fairbanks.  Voeut, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player as well as the Red Lion Player of the Week award winner, made 17 of 26 shots, including three of six three-pointers.  Honorable Mention - Mark McLaughlin, Central Washington; Paul Jones, Western Washington; Kyle Fossman, Alaska Anchorage; Rodney Webster, Western Oregon; David Downs, Seattle Pacific.
