GNAC Suspends NNU's Daniels For One Game

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference has suspended Northwest Nazarene University men’s basketball coach Dave Daniels for one game for unsportsmanlike actions immediately following last Saturday’s game at University of Alaska Anchorage, commissioner Dave Haglund announced.

Daniels will sit out Thursday night’s home game vs. Western Washington University.

“GNAC bylaws clearly address sportsmanship and behavior toward game officials, and Coach Daniels’ post-game actions were in clear violation of these expectations,” said Haglund. “Actions such as these are not acceptable and won’t be tolerated.”

Said Bill Rapp, NNU athletic director: “We support the action taken by the conference office on this matter. It is always our intention to comply with both the letter and the spirit of the conference bylaws, and for our coaches to always lead by example.  This conduct is out of character for Coach Daniels and he accepts this discipline.”
