PORTLAND, Ore. – Kenny Jones of Northwest Nazarene and Suzanna Ohlsen of Seattle Pacific are the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Red Lion Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week for their performances during the Week of Dec. 3-9, 2012.  

Earning GNAC Red Lion Athlete of the Week honors for Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field are Tanner Rottrup and Stacey Pitt, both of Montana State Billings.

Women’s Basketball -    Suzanna Ohlsen, Seattle Pacific (G, 5-7, So., Monroe, WA) scored 29 points as the Falcons split two games in the Chico West Regional Classic.  Ohlsen had an outstanding 9-1 assist-to-turnover ratio  and also was deadly from the three-point arc (making 5 of 7) and from the foul line (converting on all eight of her attempts).  She also had seven rebounds and a steal.  Honorable Mention – Britt Harris, Western Washington.

Men’s Basketball -    Kenny Jones, Northwest Nazarene (G, 6-2, Sr., Los Angeles, CA) scored 43 points in wins over College of Idaho and New Hope Christian.  Jones had 27 against the Coyotes, making nine of 16 shots as NNU extended its win streak over its county rivals to seven.  He then netted 16 points and had four steals in a 20-point  win over New Hope Christian.  Honorable Mention – John Allen, Western Washington; Jarrell Crayton, MSU Billings.

Men’s Indoor Track and Field – Tanner Rottrup, MSU Billings (Sr., Billings, MT) placed second in the shot put at the Black Hills State Winter Classic with a mark of 50-9.  That mark met the automatic standard for the GNAC championship meet in February and was just 4 ½ inches shy of the  NCAA provisional standard.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field – Stacey Pitt, Montana State Billings (Jr., Kalispell, MT) won the high jump at the Black Hills State Winter Classic with a GNAC automatic qualifying leap of 5-3 ¼.  She also qualified provisional for the GNAC meet in the pole vault with a leap of 10-11.
