PORTLAND, Ore. – As the GNAC is still transitioning from the winter to the spring sports seasons, one thing remains constant.

GNAC Insider returned Tuesday at 7 p.m. (PT), bringing you the latest news around the conference. Among the episode’s guests were two spring athletes and a high-flying track and field athlete gearing up for the indoor nationals.

Leading the Simon Fraser softball team in the pitcher’s circle this season, sophomore Anissa Zacharczuk joined the show. Zacharczuk is 10-0 and ranks seventh in the GNAC with a 3.58 earned run average. Her 10 wins lead the conference. The Clan was named the GNAC Team of the Week after sweeping Montana State Billings in four games at home last week. The Clan has won six straight games and sits in first place with a 7-1 conference mark (13-5 overall).

An upperclassman helping to lead the Concordia men’s golf program in its final spring campaign, junior Riley Killip joined the show. Killip led the Cavaliers to a team victory at September’s Western Washington Invitational, finishing tied for fourth place with a score of 6-under-par 210 over three rounds. His low-round of the year was a 5-under-par 67 in the second round of the same tournament. The Cavs radiate consistency, finishing in fourth place at their last three tournaments, including the Bay Area Invitational in Pleasanton, California on Feb. 24-25.

Soaring to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships, quite literally, Saint Martin’s sophomore Tyler Cronk also joined the show. Cronk was named the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Male Field Athlete of the Meet after he won the high jump with a height of 7 feet, 1 inch, which ranks third in Division II. He also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 11.75 inches and fourth in the triple jump at 46 feet, 3.5 inches.

Cronk was named to the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-West Region Team in the high jump, long jump and triple jump and earned West Region Men’s Field Athlete of the Year honors. Nationals will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Alabama on Friday and Saturday.
