PORTLAND, Ore. – Rounding out impressive seasons both in the classroom and on the field, three Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball student-athletes have been announced as selections to the 2019 Google Cloud/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division II District 8 Academic All-District Team.

Montana State Billings seniors Steen Fredrickson and Matt Dillon are joined by Western Oregon catcher Jared McDonald as the trio of GNAC representatives to the list. 

Fredrickson, a First Team All-GNAC selection this year, has been one of the most consistent arms for a Yellowjackets team that won both the regular-season and GNAC Championships title. Maintaining a 3.80 GPA as a finance major, Fredrickson leads the club with a 3.54 earned run average and 88 strikeouts.

Teammate Matt Dillon is also enjoying a successful final season in Billings, ranking second on one of the nation's most powerful offenses with 15 home runs. Dillon, a health administration major, holds a 3.72 GPA. 

Pursuing a degree in exercise science, McDonald boasts a 3.79 GPA and received First Team All-GNAC selections in back-to-back years. McDonald ranks third in the conference with a .362 batting average and is slotted fourth in runs scored at 46. The senior started in each of his 41 appearances behind the plate on the 2019 campaign. 

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America separately recognizes honorees in four divisions; NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where the All-America honorees will be announced in June.
