Portland, Ore. – The 111th episode of GNAC Insider is now available on iTunes, featuring three guests, including NFL Draft prospect Jordan Herdman from Simon Fraser. The GNAC’s all-time tackles leader will be joined by Western Oregon softball head coach Lonny Sargent and GNAC associate commissioner Bridget Johnson Tetteh.

Johnson Tetteh is in her fifth year in the conference office and she oversees the conference’s annual “Women in Sports” seminar. The seminar returns to Portland this year, taking place on April 8. The seminar has had over 250 attendees and more than 40 panelists during its first three years, connecting high school and college females who are pursuing a career in sports with professionals in the field. The event will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. and all attendees will also receive admission to the Portland Trail Blazers game against the Utah Jazz. Admission to the event is $36 and the seminar is limited to the first 100 registrants.

After wrapping up a record-breaking football career at Simon Fraser, Herdman is now looking to join a small group of Division II athletes to make the jump to the NFL. On Saturday, Herdman played in the Senior Bowl, which is an opportunity for seniors to play in front of NFL scouts and coaches. The Clan’s linebacker led the GNAC in tackles with 14.8 per game, which ranked third in Division II this past season. Herdman was also a member of the GNAC All-Academic Team with a 3.90 GPA in biomedical physiology.

Sargent is in his fourth season as the head softball coach at Western Oregon and his 11th year overall as a softball head coach on the collegiate level. The Wolves received two first-place votes in the GNAC Preseason Coaches Poll and is picked second in the league. After going 31-24 last spring, the Wolves return eight starting position players and Second Team All-GNAC pitcher, Sammy Cadwallader. The Wolves start their season this weekend in Las Vegas, playing in the Desert Stinger. They open the season against Azusa Pacific at 11:30 a.m., on Friday.
