PORTLAND, Ore. - Dana Goularte of Western Oregon and Shawn Reid of Seattle Pacific each helped their teams to 2-0 records at the Las Vegas Challenge Wednesday and Thursday and earned them Player of the Week honors for Dec. 15-21. 

Goularte reached 1,000 points in her career as the Wolves beat Holy Names 73-60 and Dixie State 66-53. Reid scored a career-high 30 points against Dixie State and sparked the Falcons to a 76-66 win. The Falcons also beat Rollins 74-54 at Orleand Arena.

Women's Basketball - Dana Goularte, Western Oregon (F, 6-0, Sr., Port Orchard, WA) scored 44 points and had a pair of double-doubles in two wins in Las Vegas last week. She also reached 1,000 points in her career in the Wolves second game of the Las Vegas Challenge. Her two double-doubles now give her six for the season. Goularte added 25 rebounds, seven assists, six steals and five blocks in Las Vegas as well.

Honorable Mention - Benissa Bulaya, Alaska (G, 5-6, Sr., Sacramento, CA); Jenna Buchanan, Alaska Anchorage (G, 5-8, Jr., Galena, AK); Jasmin Edwards, Central Washington (G, 5-5, Fr., Lynnwood, WA); Alisha Breen, Montana State Billings (F, 5-10, So., Choteau, MT); Taylor Simmons, Northwest Nazarene (G, 5-8, Jr., Middleton, ID); Suzanna Ohlsen, Seattle Pacific (G, 5-7, Sr., Monroe, WA); Kayla Bernsen, Western Washington (C, 6-3, Jr., Moses Lake, WA).

Men’s Basketball - Shawn Reid, Seattle Pacific (F, 6-4, Sr., Post Falls, ID) scored a team-best 36 points shooting 71.4 percent in leading the Falcons to wins over Dixie State (76-66) and Rollins (74-54) in the Las Vegas Challenge.  Reid made 15-of-21 shots, including 5-of-9 three-pointers.  He also led the Falcons with three steals.  Reid came off the bench against Dixie State with SPU trailing 17-2 and scored 30 points in just 18 minutes to rally SPU to the 10-point win.  Reid, whose previous SPU career-high was 13, made 12 of 15 shots, including 5-of-7 from the arc.
