MONMOUTH, Ore. -- Daniel Hare has resigned his position as athletic director at Western Oregon University effective Sept. 7 to return to his alma mater at Baylor Law School.

Hare has served as the athletic director at WOU since April of 2010.

"I am grateful for the opportunity I was given by former president John Minahan, current president Mark Weiss and many others to serve as Western Oregon's Athletic Director," said Hare.

"I am proud of all we have accomplished in such a short time, and know there is much work left to do.

"However, the opportunity to re-join my alma mater Baylor University, near the families of both my wife and I, was something we simply could not pass up," Hare continued.

During his tenure at Western Oregon, Hare initiated a five-year strategic plan for the department, established a sports performance program while creating a full-time Sports Performance Director position.

In addition he helped guide WOU to its first-ever Top 100 finish in the NACDA Cup standings, established multi-year contracts for coaches, oversaw five teams that won Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships and instituted a new logo.
