PORTLAND, Ore. - John Allen of Western Washington has been selected the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Red Lion Men's Basketball Player  of the Week for his performances during the Week of Jan. 14-20.

Corinn Waltrip of Western Washington and Jasmine Parker of Central Washington shared the GNAC Red Lion Co-Women's Basketball Players of the Week.

GNAC Red Lion Track and Field Athletes of the Week include Frank Krause of Saint Martin's, Tanner Rottrup of Montana State Billings, Marie Smith of Northwest Nazarene and Becki Duhamel of Central Washington.

Men’s Basketball: John Allen, Western Washington (G, 6-1, 190, Sr., Brier, WA – Mountlake Terrace) scored 46 points including 38 in the Vikings’ 91-81 road win at Western Oregon Thursday.  His 38 points against the Wolves was most by a GNAC player in nearly two years.  In two games he made 17 of 29 field goals attempts, including 6 of 10 three-pointers.  He also had 10 assists, eight rebounds and three steals as the Vikings extended their GNAC-record winning streak to 22 games. Honorable Mention - Patrick Simon, Seattle Pacific (F, 6-8, Jr., Ephrata, WA), Mark McLaughlin, Central Washington (G, 6-6, Jr., Bothell, WA – Inglemoor & Tacoma CC), Omar McDade, MSU Billings (G, 6-3, Sr., Logan, UT) and Roger O’Neill, Saint Martin’s (F, 6-5, Sr., Edmonds, WA).

Women’s Basketball: Corinn Waltrip, Western Washington (G, 5-6, Sr., Tigard, OR) and Jasmine Parker, Central Washington (F, 6-2, Fr., Spokane, WA - Mead) ... Waltrip scored 35 points including a career-high 24 in a 78-76 home win against MSU Billings.  In two wins, she made 11 of 24 shots including 9 of 17 from the arc.  She also had eight assists as the Vikings improved to 7-0 in the GNAC.  Jasmine Parker had 25 points and 26 rebounds as the Wildcats swept Alaska Fairbanks (69-49) and Alaska Anchorage (74-64).  She also had team highs for blocked shots (4) and steals (6). Honorable Mention - Megan Hingston, Northwest Nazarene (F, 5-9, Jr., Keizer, OR - McNary), Kristina Collins, Simon Fraser (G, 5-10, Sr., Port Coquitlam, BC) and Jordyn Richardson, Saint Martin’s (G, 5-9, So., Olympia, WA).

Men’s Track & Field: Track – Frank Krause, Saint Martin’s (So., Onalaska, WA) was the top collegiate placer in the 800 meters at the Idaho Open finishing second in a time of 1:55.28.   Field -  Tanner Rottrup, MSU Billings (Sr., Billing, MT) had a provisional national qualifying shot put of 52-1 in the Boise State Bronco Invitational, matching his own school record. Rottrup finished third in the event behind two Boise State athletes.  His mark ranks sixth all-time in GNAC history.     Honorable Mention -  Sam Washington, Saint Martin’s.

Women’s Track & Field: Track –   Marie Smith, Northwest Nazarene (Jr., Boise, ID – Capital) finished second in the women’s 60 meter hurdles at the Boise State Bronco Invitational in a time of 9.00, chopping .04 seconds off her previous best.  Her time ranks sixth all-time in the GNAC.  Field - Becki Duhamel, Central Washington (Jr., Wenatchee, WA – Lehigh) won the weight throw at the Idaho Open with a provisional national qualifying throw of 53-11 ¾, moving into third place on the GNAC all-time Top 10 list.  She also finished fifth in the shot put.  Her mark of 42-6 ¼ was ¾ of an inch shy of breaking into the GNAC All-Time Top 10.  Honorable Mention -    Kelly Cronic, Saint Martin’s.
