PORTLAND, Ore. - Wide receiver/return specialist Paul Revis of Western Oregon has been selected the Don Hansen NCAA Division II Super Region Three Freshman of the Year.

Revis gained a total of 2,029 all-purpose yards in his freshman season breaking the old GNAC record of 1,954 set last season by Terrell Watson of Azusa Pacific. Watson had 2,333 yards to establish a new GNAC record this fall.

Revis led the GNAC in receiving with 1,149 yards and receiving touchdowns with 11.  He also ranked second in total receptions (67) and fourth in receptions per game (6.1).

He also finished third in the GNAC in kickoff return average (28-644-23.) and sixth in punt return average (24-212-8.8).

Revis was also one of 11 players named to the Hansen Super Region Three all-region team.

Watson, who led Division II in rushing (2,153 yards) and rushing touchdowns (29) was the lone GNAC player named to the first team.

Earning second team honors were Revis (as an all-purpose back), defensive ends Alex Markarian of Humboldt State and Tovar Sanchez of Central Washington and linebacker Jordan Herdman of Simon Fraser.

Selected to the third team were WOU wide receiver Tyrell Williams, offensive tackle Alex Cappa of Humboldt State, linebacker Steven Fanua of Azusa Pacific, safety Tyler Thornton of Azusa Pacific, Humboldt State punter Chris Campbell and CWU return specialist Jesse Zalk.

The first team selection for Watson is his third.  He previously was selected to the Beyond Sports first team and the Daktronics team which is selected by the nation's sports information directors.
