PORTLAND, Ore. - Simon Fraser wide receiver Lemar Durant has been selected to the NCAA Division II Don Hansen Super Regional III football all-star team.

Durant, who earlier earned Daktronics first team all-region honors, was the only GNAC player to earn first team accolades.

Four other players were named to the Hansen all-regional team.   Humboldt State running back Nick Ricciardulli and Simon Fraser linebacker Andrew Marshall were second team selections.

Central Washington linebacker Stan Langlow and Western Oregon punter Alexander Bradt were third team picks.

Durant led the GNAC in receiving this past fall catching 91 passes for 1,318 yards and 17 touchdowns.  His reception total tied the GNAC record set by Central Washington’s Johnny Spevak in 2008.

Ricciardulli set a conference record for rushing yards netting 1,579 yards.  Marshall had 52 tackles and led the GNAC in sacks with nine.  He had 11 total tackles for losses for 59 yards.

Langlow led conference champion Central Washington with 81 tackles, while Bradt led the GNAC in punting during his freshman season with a 42.3 average.

Third Team – Stan Langlow, CWU (LB, 6-3, 216, Jr., University Place, WA); Alexander Bradt, WOU (P, 6-1, 210, Fr., Salem, OR).

Daktronics Super Regional III: First Team – Lemar Durant, SFU (WR, 6-2, So., Coquitlam, BC).

Beyond Sports Network: First Team - Brett Fryendahl, HSU (OT, 6-5, 254, Sr., Corona, CA).  Second Team -  Lemar Durant, SFU (6-2, So., Coquitlam, BC).  Third Team - Nick Ricciardulli, HSU (RB, 5-8, 190, Jr., Poway, CA); Stan Langlow, CWU (LB, 6-3, 216, Jr., University Place, WA).  Honorable Mention – Jamal Kett, SFU (TE, 6-5, 234, Fr., Orangeville, ON).

Three Western Oregon Players in USA Freedom Bowl

Western Oregon senior football players Scotland Foss, Bryce Peila and Gavin Drake  have been selected to play in the annual USA Freedom Bowl in Virginia Beach, Va. The all-star game will be played Monday, Jan. 21.  Kickoff will be at 10 a.m.

The contest highlights the accomplishments and talents of small college football players from around the country.

Peila (6-1, 200, Sr., Central Point, OR – Crater) and Foss (6-2, 235, Sr., Albany, OR – West Albany) each earned first team GNAC all-league honors.  Peila  was named to the first team squad for the third consecutive season after leading the team with 74 tackles and the GNAC with five interceptions. Foss earned his second consecutive first-team selection after ranking second on the squad with 67 tackles, including three sacks.

Drake (6-3, 265, Sr., Portland, OR – Central Catholic)  heads to the USA Freedom Bowl after earning second-team all-league honors after registering 20 tackles and  3 ½  sacks during the 2012 season.
