PARMA, Italy – Central Washington quarterback Reilly Hennessey has signed to play with the Parma Panthers of the Federazione Italiana Di American Football.

"It's exciting, first and foremost, to get to play more football," Hennessey said.  "It's sad when you think it's done, but it's exciting when you get another opportunity to play the sport you love.  It's a great opportunity to be on my own and find myself in a rich and diverse culture.  I look forward to being able to absorb as much as I can."

The Panthers reached the Serie A semifinals last season after receiving a first-round bye.  Parma has reached the semifinals every year since 2006.  They won the Italian Super Bowl in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2018.

"It's great to be able to play professionally and making money playing the sport that you love is a huge deal," CWU head coach Ian Shoemaker said.  "The experience of playing overseas is exciting for Reilly and for us to expand our brand over to Europe.  We can't wait for him to come back in the fall and see what types of experiences he brings back to Central Washington."

Hennessey threw for 2,705 yards for the Wildcats in 2018.  The senior signal caller tossed 21 touchdowns and held an efficiency rating of 161.90.  He also rushed for 477 yards and 11 touchdowns.  Hennessey was a Harlon Hill Trophy nominee and All-GNAC First Team selection in 2018 en route to the Wildcats' GNAC championship.
