After losing three of their first four games, some may have counted out Western Oregon. The Wolves are far from dead, but they are keeping everyone watching until the last minute.

Much like they did against North Alabama, Western Oregon relied on the defense to make a late stop to secure a 31-25 win over Central Washington. The victory allowed the Wolves to pull into a second place tie in the GNAC standings with South Dakota Mines at 2-1.

The Hardrockers, meanwhile, had scored 49 points or more in their previous four wins, but needed just 19 in their victory over Simon Fraser. The 19-0 shutout was the team’s first since 2008.
