80 Earn GNAC Cross Country Academic Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. - A total of 80 student-athletes – 32 men and 48 women - have been named to the 2014 Great Northwest Athletic Conference cross country all-academic team.
Heading up the academic squad is Lorenzo Smith of Simon Fraser, who has a 4.22 GPA in the Canadian system that awards 4.33 points for an A+.
Three athletes have perfect 4.00 GPAs in the American system – the Alaska Nanooks’ Michael Fehrenbach, Jinise Osborne of Montana State Billings and Rachel Crawford of Western Oregon.
Five athletes earned academic honors for the third time – Kevin Rooke and Bryn Haebe of Alaska Anchorage; Kaleb Fleenor of Northwest Nazarene; Connie Morgan of Central Washington; and Renae Hepfner of Montana State Billings.
An additional 30 athletes – 15 men and 15 women – were named to the team for the second time.
Western Washington placed 13 athletes on the academic team including six men and seven women. The Alaska Nanooks (5 men, 5 women) and Central Washington (3 men, 7 women) had 10 each.
