Whitney Mickelsen of Montana State Billings set a school record in the women's 5K at the Yellowjacket Invitational Saturday at Riverfront Park in Billings.

Both the MSUB men  and women finished fourth. “I was pleased with how both teams ran today,” said head coach Dave Coppock.

“I felt like it was a very good meet. It was definitely a good tune up for the GNAC championships,” Coppock said.

Mickelsen finished fourth in a time of 18:05. MSUB Sarah Graves won the event in a time of 17:29.

In the men's 8,000 meters, MSUB's Brian Potter finished fifth in 25:21. Jed Morgan of Black Hills State finished first in 24:57. MSUB's Daniel Lombardi took seventh in a time of 25:48.

Black Hills won the men's team title with 34 points followed by Carroll (60), Rocky Mountain (64) and MSUB (77).

Carroll tallied 42 points to win the women's meet over Rocky which recorded 55 total points. Black Hills was third with 60 points while the Yellowjackets tallied 94 points to finish fourth.

Clan Women Win Concordia Invitational

Jessica Smith finished second to lead Simon Fraser to the team title Saturday in the Concordia Adidas Cross Country Classic at Fernhill Park in Portland.

Smith covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17:27. Andria Scheese, competing attached, posted a winning time of 17:22.

SFU also got a fifth place from Lindsey Butterworth and a 15th from Sarah Sawatzky in outpointing the University of Portland 61-71 to win the team title.

In the men's division, Keir Forster was the Clan's top placer, finishing ninth in a 8,000-meter time of 25:14. SFU finished third in back of the College of Idaho and Concordia.

Santos Finishes Fourth at Pacific Lutheran

Manuel Santos of Central Washington placed fourth Saturday in the men's 8,000 meters at the Pacific Lutheran University Invitational cross country meet.

Santos was the only Top 10 finisher for the Wildcats, who did not field a complete team for the meet.
